Configuring SMTP Service

This configuration is intended for administrators who need to enable email notifications or alert subscriptions.

This chapter covers SMTP configuration, signing up for a service (using Mailgun as an example), and troubleshooting common issues.

Prerequisites

  • Prepare an available SMTP relay service using either of the following options:

    1. Use an existing corporate SMTP relay, such as self-hosted Postfix, Exchange, or the SMTP service provided by your corporate email provider.
    2. Sign up for a third-party SMTP service. This document uses Mailgun as an example.
  • Ensure that the network allows access to the SMTP service. Common ports are 587 (STARTTLS) or 465 (TLS).
